The Instructional Designer will be responsible for assisting in the creation of product training courses that enable customers, partners, and employees to effectively use, administer, and configure Varian products. Must be passionate about developing engaging online content that boosts end-user performance, confidence, and satisfaction. Strong technology and content development skills are a must. You should welcome the opportunity to constantly learn new skills at a quick pace to keep up with product enhancements and changes in the team’s design and development processes. This is a cross-functional position. The Senior Learning Experience Design Manager will be the manager to this role, providing guidance and instruction on development.

What You’ll Do  

  • Create templates i.e.: Storyline, storyboard for implementation in Storyline, for crowd sourcing development.  
  • Collaborate effectively with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand the needs of our partners, customers, and employees.   
  • Given course objectives, product use cases, and technical resources (product documentation, presentations, and videos), create immersive, learner-centric courses that achieve the stated objectives.  
  • Work both independently and cross-functionally with subject matter experts to shape effective instructional content using realistic business examples and appropriate hands-on activities.  
  • Leverage rapid, agile development techniques and processes to create content for a rapidly changing environment.  
  • Document course specifications, style guides, templates, and development choices for future projects.   
  • Transform internal content into engaging instructional content (presentations, webinars, documentation).  
  • Update and improve existing training materials and production methodologies.  
  • Create validation activities to measure learning attainment of course objectives.  
  • Apply the latest ideas, technologies, methodologies, and quantitative data to improve learning experience and outcomes.   
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.  

Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree in education and/or education technology or design principles. 
  • At least 5 years of Instructional Design Experience 
  • Excellent communication, analytical and writing skills with a demonstrated aptitude for creating instructional content for adult learners.  
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and the ability to incorporate them into the curriculum.   
  • Flexible, collaborative, team-oriented individual who shows initiative and holds themselves accountable.  
  • Experienced using e-learning software (Articulate, Camtasia, Captivate, or similar).   
  • Experienced using virtual instructor-led tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, etc.)  
  • Demonstrates ability and work in situations under pressure.  
  • Must be able to multitask, be organized, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.  
  • Ability to quickly master new software applications.  
  • Occasional travel (up to 5% per month).   

Nice to have  

  • Experience working with and integrating the use of knowledge bases and online references for learning and performance support.  
  • Knowledge of SCORM and xAPI

The base pay range for this position is Min $61,200 – Max $104,100

The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting’s primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
